New Delhi, India: July 25, 2009 – IR Summary/Reporter from Press Council room – It has been felt for a long time by the general public and the govt. agencies that Media usually takes undue advantage of their press powers, hence the Govt. of India introduced Press Council of India in 1979 and entrusted the Council with a serious responsibility of functioning as an Appellate Board to check the Media for misuse of their powers.
