Thailand goes to poll on Sunday

Bangkok - Thailand goes to polls today. Its Polling booths opened at 8 am (0630 IST) on Sunday for voters in Thailand. There is more likely that Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's Thai Rak Thai party may have a sweeping victory.
As per the official directions, the voting booths in the country's 400 constituencies would remain open for the voters for seven hours.
Voters are to cast ballots for 500 seats in the House of Representatives, which will determine the formation of the next Government.
Thaksin hopes that he would win the comfortable majority so as to avoid the coalition government. It is his second term, which he is likely to win and it shall be a record in Thailand for any Prime Minister to have a second term in office.
