New Delhi: September 6, 2008 :Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist, NIA Chairman – Indo US Nuclear Deal, in fact, has divided the world, the Americans would know who is their own and who is not, it might have withered their misunderstanding which they have been carrying for a long time that they could easily influence any country and that has proved partly wrong. Similar is the case with India, who also got a golden chance to weigh the friendship of different countries how far they are sincere to them?

The provision of unanimous decision by the NSG countries on any matter is against the principle of natural justice; it should be based on majority votes and not unanimous. In such a case, any matter placed before them is bound to be influenced by different lobbies and the members of their group, whoever, would not afford to go against the interest of their own block, hence the decision is supposed to hang up, irrespective of the fact whether the issue in point is just, reasonable, or otherwise. The case of Indo-US Nuclear Deal is before us.

Over and above, the inclusion of many small countries in the NSG is a glaring mistake, which must be amended to derive a just and rational decision in future; there could not be such a blunder as seen in this group; it is no where in the world record. If there were only a few heavy weight countries in the NSG, there would not have been any problem or hitch in the Indo-US Nuclear Deal to get cleared.

The clause of veto is permissible and whosoever exercises that excessive power, it gives a chance to other countries to judge the foreign policy of the vetoing country and the vetoing country carries both aspects, positive and negatives, plus and minus, the veto by any country in any issue does damage that country’s own image and interest unless the veto is really essential and bonafide.

Let us enter the Vienna meet. The White House hopes that India and the US could get the deal clear after giving their different pleas, the statement given by Foreign Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is timely and would help shell out the misunderstanding and in this regard efforts are being made to get the favorable results.

India's reiteration of its non-proliferation commitments carries a great positive momentum to its efforts to get a nuclear suppliers ban lifted on nuclear trade with India, and it is the right moment for the US to get it cashed and save their high image.

"The questions that were made public reiterated our longstanding position. And we hope that this - we could put this behind us and be able to move forward and get this agreement done," White House spokesperson Dana Perino said Friday.

State Department deputy spokesman Robert Wood has very rightly drawn attention to  the statement issued by the Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee about India's non-proliferation commitments.

The new circumstances shall most certainly oblige the objecting countries to clear the deal by granting the waiver to India if the approach clicks the desired objective.

It is not the proper time for Opposition Parties like BJP to oppose the govt., it is country’s prestige, which is at stake and the members of the Opposition Parties are making capital out of it.

It is against the spirit of patriotism, Mr. LK Advani should particularly note it and he and others should not play with this national emotional moment being discussed in Vienna.
