New Delhi: April 26, 2008 - The BCCI has sent notice to Mumbai IPL team's stand-in skipper Harbhajan Singh after he slapped Punjab's Sreesanth.
The incident occured when the teams were shaking hands during Friday's encounter in which Punjab beat Mumbai by 66 runs, as per TV reports.
The Cricket Board, while condemning the incident, has asked Harbhajan why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.
Its official Ratnakar Shetty says physical attack is not acceptable and Harbhajan has to explain his action, which also violates the code of conduct.
Harbhajan has to reply to the notice by Monday.
Sreesanth not to file complaint
Punjab paceman S Sreesanth described Mumbai stand-in captain Harbhajan Singh's alleged slap as "shake hand on a wrong side" and said he would not file a complaint against him, a report from Chandigarh said.
When specifically asked by media if he was slapped by Harbhajan on Friday night, Sreesanth said "not exactly". "Not exactly (slapped), it was a shake hand on a wrong side. I don't want to file any complaint against him," said Sreesanth who was seen bitterly crying on the ground on Friday night.
