Kolkata, India: April 20, 2008 –IR Summary - In a glaring negligence of Govt. hospital in West Bengal, field rates nibbled a newly born baby’s eye at the Barasat district hospital in the normal  working hours of Saturday and scratched its face, the infant died?

Hospital authorities did not deny the charges but twisted the fact that the incident had occurred only after the child had died and it all seems to have happened due to gross negligence of the hospital staff for which they have ordered an inquiry where the dead body of the child was kept and how the rates bit her eyes and scratched the child’s face, none answered these questions. How inhuman?

The child’s face was so terribly eaten full of scratches by the rats that when its mother saw the child she fell into swoon and fainted on the floor. Others who saw the face of the child duly eaten by rates were shocked. The child’s mother was seen screaming in agony and the people who was the child were equally grieved and cursing the hospital authorities how negligent they are.
