New Delhi, India: IR Summary - Shifting from village to City - We had a vast estate in our village with a small orchard in front area of our residence, where I remember, it contained different trees bearing fruits and varieties of flowers, with rich environment, probably that was our divine privilege.
However, my schooling was a problem; Talagang Tehsil was a bit far from our village and there was no proper conveyance and secure arrangement for sending me for schooling being out of the village boundary, and that angle was risky from our family point of view. So, my schooling was late by a year or so; I was then around 6.
I had two sisters elder to my brother and one sister younger to me, we were all five brothers and sisters. My eldest sister Soma Wanti, a pious girl, was married to one Bhagwan Das Bhatia, Inspector of Police, on whom she had cast religious influence even though he was in police.
Next to her was Maina Wanti, married to a business man running his establishment in Peshawar, North Western Frontier Province.
My both sisters are no more, and their husbands also died. My eldest sister has one living son and two daughters, my brother also died but his wife and children are okay by the grace of Lord Vishnu, the Supreme God.
The present status of my parents’ family crowns as under:
Father: Late Ushnak Rai Mother: Late Budha Wanti Eldest sister: Late Soma Wanti Next sister: Late Maina Wanti Elder Brother: Late Krishan Lal, he was born on the birthday of Lord Kirsna. Myself Swamy (Dr.) Raj Baldev Youngest Sister: Raj Kumari
After about a year or two, my elder brother Krishan Lal had developed a carbuncle in the middle of his breast, my mother used to take him for treatment in Talagang but the boil became out of control, meanwhile it became extraordinary large and needed an immediate operation; could be possible only in a big town or city by a very skilled surgeon.
My mother rushed to Montgomery to my father to get my brother treated. As I remember, one Dr. Ram Lal, living in a Gandhi Chowk, operated upon him and healed my brother’s boil but it took many months to heal it down, and this I used to hear during the repeated discussions of our family events.
While my parents were busy in the treatment of my brother Krishan Lal, some thieves in our absence broke our house in the village and stole everything and took them away without damaging the inbuilt of our house, which was spaciously decorated. My father used to bring many antique pieces from abroad.
Ultimately, my father sold the house at a throw away price since he decided to keep the whole family in Montgomery, one of the modern city.
The amount that my father got from the sale proceeds of his village home was sufficient to restart a good life in that city. It was quite a huge amount as of today. We were happy, living a good standard in that newly built city.
