Orissa Police nabbed Naxals , Over 20 killed, huge arms cache recovered

Bhubaneswar, Orissa: February 18, 2008 –IR Summary -  There is a great success of Orissa Police, who have recovered a huge hoard of arms and ammunition, which the Naxals had looted from the Nanagarh District Armoury and Police Training School, and it is one of the biggest capture.

Orissa Director General of Police confirmed the recovery of big cache of arms and ammunition from Naxals.

The DG told media here today that they have recovered 115 3.3 rifles, one carbine and half a truckload of ammunition and informed that more than 20 Naxalites were killed during their operation. They expect to comb more. However, he praised the villagers, who cooperated with them with information about the moements of Naxalites.

With this success, Orissa has come on priority with one of its biggest combing operations in the history of encounters against hundreds of armed Naxalites following the Nayagarh mayhem in which 17 police personnel and a civilian were decimated.
