The present position of India is very good, sound and safe and may lead it to a good result, if it crosses 400, and it shall be marvelous if India crosses 450 and can then hope for the second win to level the series.

V.Sehwag made 63 in 90 balls,6 four, ct ML Hayden b B Lee. Irfan Pathan made 9 runs in 21 balls,with two four, ct AC Gilchrist b MG Johnson, R.Dravid made 18 in 55 balls,no four,S.Tandulkar made 124 in 172 balls, with 10 four and 3 sixes and is still batting.

S.C.Ganguly made 7 out of  29 balls, with one four, He was lbw GB Hogg. VVS Laxman made 51 out of 102 balls with five four, he was ct AC Gilchrist b B Lee. MS Dhoni made 6 runs of 54 balls.

B Lee and MG Johnson got two wickets each and GB Hogg captured one wicket on the first day.
