Pakistan returns normal after three days looting and arson cases

Islamabad, Pakistan: December 31, 2007 - IR Summary - The Pakistan Govt. has claimed that normalcy has returned today after the death of 44 people in three days unrest as a result of  the assassination of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto after she was returning from the election rally.

The mob throughout the country had damaged the govt. and private property, looted banks and set them on fire.  The also ablaze the houses, cars and lorries and looted the shops and burnt houses. The mob did not treat people as human beings and killed over 40 people mercilessly.

They had only one agenda with them i.e. how to accuse President Musharraf and to find an excuse of creating unrest across the country. The people also damaged the Railway to the maximum, burnt bogies, stations and broke the signals.

The mobs ablaze over 72 trains and burnt over 18 railway stations in Sindh, and damaged many of them.

The ruly mob looted over 173 banks, set them on fire and damaged more than  25 banks. So much so, they set on fire over 26 petrol pumps, over 370 vehicles and lorries, burnt and damaged and set on fire more than 765 shops.

The govt. has finally controlled the situation across the country and there is normalcy throughout. Even Samjhota Express from India has also restored. The officials say that the govt.has succeeded in controlling the situation due to order to shoot at sight.
