Naudero, Pakistan : December 31, 2007 - IR Summary - Pakistan's Election Commission Secretary Kanwar Dilashad said today that a decision is expected tommorw whether to hold parliamentary elections on schedule or not. In this regard, the instructions are awaited from the Govt., he said.
The political developments came hours after dramatic new videotape of the assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has come on the fore that Bhutto was killed by a bullet. The new tape shows the entire incident how the gunman released bullets and how Benazir Bhutto was hit and fallen. She fell before the blast.
The tape provides the clue and the correct story of the assassination. This tape falsifies the account of story given by the government. A previously released videotape shows a man at the right of her vehicle raising a gun, pointing it toward Bhutto, who is standing in her car with her upper body through the sunroof. He fires three shots. Then, there is an explosion.
The latest images show that Bhutto was killed at the hands of the gunman. The people travelling along with her saw blood flowing along with other proof that Bhutt was killed by a gunman by his bullet and not by the bomb blast.
The doctor who initially examined the body said Bhutto died of bullet wounds. However, the Pakistani government later said she died from shrapnel wounds from the explosion.
While comparing the incident and the cause of death of Benazir Bhutto as presented by the Govt. Bhutto's husband, Asif Ali Zardari said that the private video released now made the things amply clear that the govt. statement was manipulated and not reliable.
"I can say confidently that she was shot," he said.
He also called for an explanation of the Govt. on suppressing the fact on one side and twisting the fact on the other. He said that elections should not be postponed.
"Our demand is elections on time -- free, fair as promised," he said on Sunday. But now with the new video revealaing how Bhutto was shot by a gunman, has changed the situation. The elections may be postponed.
