Gurgaon, Haryana, India: December 12, 2007 - Aakash and Vikas, the two Class VIII students of Euro International School, who shot dead one of their classmates on Tuesday, have been sent to 14-day judicial custody at Faridabad Juvenile Home.
The police have so far not been able to trace the parents of the two students, but a case has been filed against Azad Singh, the father of Aakash, whose revolver was used to kill Abhishek.
Gurgaon DCP Satish Balan said the parents of the two children remain untraceable, adding that the shooting seems to have been well planned.
In probably what is the first case of its kind in an Indian school, the duo on Tuesday shot dead their 14-year-old classmate, Abhishek Tyagi, in the school premises shortly after the school closed.
Aakash and Vikas, both sons of property dealers, had an old grudge with the victim. The two fired a total of five rounds at Abhishek from close range. The 14-year-old was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced brought dead by doctors.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner Mohinder Lal said that while walking in the school corridor after the classes, Abhishek was accosted by his two classmates. Aakash then pulled out his father's licensed revolver and allegedly shot Abhishek four times. He then handed the gun to his friend, Vikas who fired another bullet. Of the five bullets fired, four struck Abhishek, said Lal.
The Commissioner added that Aakash had clandestinely brought the revolver to the school – located in DLF area of Gurgaon – hid it in the toilet and brought it out after classes.
According to the Gurgaon police, Aakash and Vikas told them during interrogation that Abhishek used to bully them which is why they decided to settle score with him.
