Court orders probe against Jaswant Singh in opium complaint case

Jodhpur, November 05, 2007 - IR Summary- Based on the complaint case, a special court has directed the Baltora police station here today to probe the allegatiaons of opium snorting against BJP leader Jaswant Singh and 9 other leaders of his party including Raghuveer Singh Kaushal Raghuveer Singh Kaushal, MP.
On November 3, 2007, the Court had reserved its order to decided whether it was a fit case for investigation and has postponed the matter for today. The Court today issued instructions to the police concerned to investigate the matter under section 156/3 of CrPC and report to the court.
The complaint, filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985, against the former External Affairs Minister and nine other BJP leaders was filed on Friday for allegedly using opium, which was against the law.
Besides Jaswant Singh, the complainant also named member of Parliament Raghuveer Singh Kaushal, Kailash Megwal, former president of BJP Rajasthan L K Chaturvedi, cabinet ministers of Rajasthan Narpat Singh Razvi, Ghanshyam Tiwadi, Madan Dilavar and MP Jain along with two MLAs Jogeshwar Garg and Shankar Singh Rajpurohit.
