Court deferred hearing on Bihar MLA’s bail application

Patna: November 03, 2007 - The Patna Court here has deferred the bail application of the Bihar MLA Anant Singh today; he was arrested for allegedly attacking two media personalities.
The bail application shall be placed before the court after receiving the details of the incident from the Police.
A Bandh called on Friday in the state by the main Opposition party RJD and the same was supported by Congress, LJP, CPI, CPI-M, CPI-ML, BSP, Samajwadi Party, NCP and Samata Party.
There were free vehicular disruptions and lathi charge. RJD leader and ex-Chief Minister Rabri Devi, was arrested and then released. She was leading the front demonstrators, who were shouting slogans against Anant Singh and others.(IR Summary).

Anant Singh had allegedly attacked the media people after they questioned him about his involvement in an alleged rape and murder of a young woman called Reshma. She is reported to have written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar blaming the MLA, a builder and Singh’s bodyguard of sexual abuse.
The assault on the mediapersons made Nitish Kumar recommend a CBI inquiry on pressure from the Opposition.
