Another Suicide Bomb killed 6, injured 18

Islamabad: October 30, 2007 - IR Summary - Another suicide bomb attack has shaken Pakistan on Tuesday afternoon in Rawalpindi. The bomb was set-off at Ayub Khan Park in the VIP area where six people are reported to be killed and 18 persons injured. According to Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, a close aide of the President anticipates that the death toll could rise much higher.

This is the second major suicide attack in Pakistan in the last fortnight after  Karachi attack occurred on October 18th on Benazir Bhutto’s coming back to her own country Pakistan, in which 149 persons were killed and about 500 were injured.

The think tank of Pakistan feel that the explosion occurred just a day after the Pakistan government had released an article in the Newsweek magazine alleging it as the "world`s most dangerous nation", expressing it as false and deceptive.

The bomb exploded in a wagon near the area of Army Headquarters to target a very important, where Chief Ministers and Governors at the Army House had assembled being chaired by President Parez Musharraf. 

A red alert was already sounded both in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on the basis of the report from the Intelligence that three suicide bombers had already entered the city in the wake of the fierce clashes between security forces and militants in the SWAT region of North West Frontier Province.

However, the searches at different points have been intensified and an Army Contingent has been alerted.
