October 10, 2007 - Shashi Kala interviews Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist from India, and Chairman “National Integration Assembly” (NIA), World Peace Mission Body, to give his opinion on the air strike on Taliban Militants near Afghan Border?
Dr. Raj Baldev gave his comments in New Delhi given as under: “Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, a big ally in the US-led war on terror, who is under high pressure to stop militants crossing into Afghanistan by any means, have stated complying with and directed the Air Force to bombard the suspected pro-Taliban positions in North Waziristan near Afghan border and it is continuing for the fourth day. .
The army says a total of 45 troops and 150 rebels have been killed in battles around the town of Mir Ali but unofficial report gives a different figure, they say that only 50 rebels died in Tuesday’s air strikes in Mir Ali, a Taliban and Al-Qaida’s safe haven.
However, the panic is spread all over; the local people are fleeing the area in thousands, the report also indicates that many civilians have been killed in these raids and also during the escape process.
On the other hand, the Taliban militants also claim to be strong enough to fight back Pak Army and the Air Force. They have captured more than 200 soldiers tactically without any fight.
This shows that the situation is very awkward for President Musharraf, his military campaigns are deeply unpopular in Pakistan, and so his own personality.”
To get his soldiers released from the clutches of Taliban shall not be an easy job, they may strike a bargain. Time shall tell how will Musharraf be able please the USA to control terrorism?
At the same time, it is hard to guess whether his action of air strike against Taliban shall have any bearing on the Supreme Court hearing on the petition against his fate. But the thinktanks feel that it is a good tactic by Musharraf to play a balance the public opinion by discouraging Taliban militants.”
