New Delhi: September 20, 2007 – There is one threat from the BJP who has openly declared that if they are able to form the next govt. they would surely review the deal, and the other threat has been coming from the Left, an alliance of the UPA, who have been continuously warning the UPA Govt. on Indo-US N. Deal for quite a long time, but the govt. seem to be unmoved.

Either the BJP or the anti voice of Left party looks to have exerted on effectual impact on the UPA leadership to change or slow down the Indo-US Civil Nuclear Deal.

Both sections of Opposition on this issue have rather failed to prevent the UPA Govt. (of India)  in participate in the meet in Vienna on Thursday. The govt. has no hesitation in taking forward the negotiations with the IAEA next month.

US ambassador David Mulford on Wednesday has sought a speeding up process in such a way that the deal is endorsed in time before Washington is flooded by election fever early next year.

"Time is of the essence," David Mulford said here at the fourth India-US economic summit, stressing the advantages of the deal that will end India's isolation from the nuclear mainstream after a gap of three decades.

Communist Party of India-Marxist general secretary Prakash Karat has warned the government of serious consequences if the government does not put the deal on hold for six months.

But the government does  not seem to attach any importance to them except lip service.

Kapil Sibal, the Minister for Science and Technology just avoided the threat diplomatically saying that the deal would not be operationalized unless the govt. take into account the concerns of the left party.

In short, the BJP on one side and Left on the other, both have failed to put any concrete pressure on the UPA Govt., the latter is moving forward to honor their commitment of Indo-US Nuclear deal and they should.
