Father identifies UK bomber as his son

London: July 07, 2007 (Saturday) – The story of eight suspects, who were taken into custody, most of them had worked for Britain's health service. Dr Maqbool Ahmed, a Bangalore resident, has, however, disclosed to the police that the man being treated for severe burns in a UK hospital is his son.
The British police allege that Kafeel Ahmed, 27, is a terrorist who rammed a flaming Jeep Cherokee into a terminal at the Glasgow international airport on June 30.
Kafeel, who was first mistaken for Khalid Ahmed, a doctor from Lebanon, has a PhD. in aeronautical engineering and studied at Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge, England, as per different Agency reports.
Dr Maqbool disclosed to the police officer that he had identified his son from pictures of the suicide bomber shown on TV. Sabeel Ahmed, who worked as doctor in England and is believed to be Kafeel’s younger brother, is under detention, as per unconfirmed sources within the Police.
The third Indian detained in connection with the terrorist plot in Britain is Hameed Haneef, who was detained at the Brisbane airport in Australia on Monday and worked at the Gold Coast Hospital in Queensland.
