USS Nimitz leaves Chennai port, Left political parties feel happy

Chennai: July 05, 2007 (Thursday) – As per schedule, the USS Nimitz has left Chennai at 10:00 am today lifting its anchor. The left Party and other political leaders who had raised serious objections on Nimitz felt relieved when it departed from the Indian shores.
The visit of this gigantic nuclear powered aircraft carrier to an Indian term is seen as a significant event in the deepening relations between the United States of America and India.USS Pickney and USS Nimitz have both left and are reported to be heading back to the Gulf region as per the official report.
The 4 day trip goodwill trip to India was marred with the Left parties shouting "Go back" in a noisy demonstration in Chennai. The Left parties were very vocal to express their disapproval of the visit of USS Nimitz from the day it was announced.
The last few years has the world has witnessed an improved relationship between the two great democracies. There have been greater ties on several fronts including economic, military.
This is causing great unease to the powerful communist community which sees it as a strategic move by the Americans to bring India within its ambit.
