Mumbai, July 05, 2007 (Thursday) - An unidentified person allegedly sent an e-mail to a private news channel warning of an explosion at actor Amitabh's residence "Jalsa" in suburban Juhu, forcing the police to carry out a thorough search of the premises.
The search was carried out for an hour from 1500 hours on Wednesday.
"I received a call from the news channel saying that they have received an e-mail saying that a bomb would go off at Jalsa at 4:30 pm. A team from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad was immediately rushed to the spot, but no explosive material was found," Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Archana Tyagi told the media.
She, however, did not reveal the name of the Private News channel, which received the mail. All the necessary precautions were taken during the search without disrupting the traffic movement on the busy road opposite the bungalow, the police said.
"I have asked them (the news channel) to forward the mail to me and we will definitely trace its sender," Tyagi added.
