Chandigarh, May 27, 2007 -  The five Sikh High Priests had set a deadline for the closure of all Dera Sacha Sauda by Sunday, but nothing concrete has happened, the security personnel are, therefore, worried over the situation which can aggravate, hence they are on the high alert.

As per Agency reports the clashes had broken out between the Dera followers and the Sikhs after Dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh purportedly appeared in the attire of the 10th Sikh guru in an advertisement in some newspapers.

Punjab Police has set up special check-posts and beefed up security around the Dera Sacha Sauda centres in the state, including its main centre in Punjab at Salabatpura to avoid any untoward incident.

Security has also been tightened at Sirsa in Haryana where the Dera is holding its regular last Sunday of the month congregation.

Dera Chief Sant Gurmit Ram Raheem Singh is to deliver a spiritual discourse and lecture on meditation ways there on Sunday.

After the end of deadline on Sunday, the five Sikh High Priests are expected to announce their next programme only on May 31 when they are scheduled to review the situation and finalise further action against the Dera.

Religious leaders, including Swami Agnivesh, have held marathon discussions with the sect leaders to resolve the impasse. The Priests have also called upon the Sikhs to undertake a protest march from Fatehgarh Sahab to Chandigarh on Thursday for presenting a memorandum to the Governors of Punjab and Haryana demanding action against the Dera chief.

They have also announced their programme to submit a memorandum to the President, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and other central officials by May 30 for expediting the CBI probe against the Dera head which is on in connection with the murder of a journalist and an alleged rape in Sirsa.

No untoward incident has so far been reported in Punjab as per media reports.
