January 24, 2007 -The Supreme Court had stayed the conviction, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu is filing his nomination from Amritsar today (Jan 24).

The SC decision enables Sidhu to contest the February 13 Parliamentary bye-election from Amritsar, caused by his resignation from the Lok Sabha in December last year.

Sidhu himself has announced that he would now campaign vigorously for the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance all around the state.
