Maruti launches two diesel versions of swift

January 24, 2007- Car market leader Maruti Udyog Ltd on Wednesday launched two variants of the diesel version of its premium hatchback 'Swift'.

The introductory price of the two versions 'LDi' and 'VDi' are Rs 4.68 lakh and 4.96 lakh respectively, ex showroom Delhi.

Swift Diesel is powered by a new generation 1.3 litre engine with five injection technology. It delivers a power of 75 bhp.

"The demand for diesel cars is growing in India and Suzuki Motor Corporation and Maruti Udyog have made major investments in diesel facilities to serve its customers needs," Jagdish Khattar, managing director, Maruti Udyog said in New Delhi.

The technology for this diesel engine was obtained by Suzuki Motor Corp through a technical licence agreement with Fiat and Adam Opel. The engine is being manufactured at SMC and MUL diesel engine plant in Manesar near Gurgaon.
