United Nations: The UN nuclear watchdog has expressed its concern over the disappearence of high precision equipment from Iraq’s nuclear sites, that could be smuggled to nuclear black market.

The international body has written to United Nations’ security council expressing its fears about the missing material. It said it bagan disappearing soon after US war over Iraq. US has acknowledged that after its control over Iraq, looting was a problem.

Hans Blix, former UN Chief Weapons Inspector, termed the loss as scandalous.

"All these things were tagged and they were visited by the inspectors and then in comes the United States with 200,000 people or more and occupy the country in order ostensibly to take care of weapons of mass destruction," he said.

"They lose control and the instruments and equipment that could be used or helpful in nuclear production disappear."

His comments were echoed by former senior US Weapons Inspector David Kay. They were speaking after the UN nuclear inspectorate said items had disappeared from the sites which could have been used in nuclear programmes.

This has posed a great security risk and if these weapons are sold to Al Qaeda organization, it shall prove very risky. However, the US has started its search so as to minimize the danger.
