Jessica Lall murder turns a serious twist for proper justice MIL/Agencies, Apr 19, 2006. Author: New Delhi - The probe into the alleged collusion between the accused and police in the Jessica Lall murder case has gathered a serious momentum. The special team is now engaged in questioning ballistic expert Roop Singh, who is alleged to be the key man in the fresh probe. Though Roop Singh was questioned in the early stage but he is required to give a fresh statement to the special team to help complete the fresh probe. The special commissioner (intelligence) U K Katna had always alleged that Roop Singh was a very important man for the fresh probe. It was due to inordinate delay in summoning him that led people to believe that the inquiry was closed. The entire proceeding was in Hindi and that is got to be translated and to be filed before the Delhi High Court. The High Court bench comprising Justice Manmohan Sarin and Justice J M Malik who directed Delhi Police to expedite the matter and be translated in English. "We are not born Englishmen. So with the prosecution's help, we can start the groundwork even if the documents are in Hindi. The bench added on the appeal, which was filed by the police on March 13. In another sign of urgency, the court fixed the next date for May 15 while directing the Delhi Govt. to appoint two translators to assist the court's own translators in getting the documents readied in English.
