The SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005, which was programmed on the pattern of American Idol, became one of the most successful entertainments ever organized by one else, not even Gurukul. It ran for months and it deserved the country’s appreciation and it cashed it.
There is no doubt that Debojit’s overall performance has had an edge over Vinit in some songs and so was the case with Vinit who definitely sang certain songs better than Debojit. Both Vinit and Debojit sing from their hearts and touch the people at their cores, it is hard for an impartial fan to lose either of the two.
The people on the whole were pleased to see Debojit winning the final battle to become “Voice of India”. At the same time Vinit’s fans were disappointed since they know that Vinit was more popular on country’s level but Debojit’s lovers in Assam and Eastern cities including Calcutta gave overwhelming votes to him and changed the result. Debojit polled 27757733 votes against Vinit’s 27298268 votes.
Debojit is undoubtedly a great singer and shall shine forever for his God gifted talent. In his interview, he gave credit to his wife to help fulfilling the dream of his mother. His wife really lent full support to her husband to bring him the highest national honor as a great singer, which he deserved.
Dr. Raj Baldev, President National Integration Assembly (NIA), while giving his comments said, “The Organizers should have declared both these singers as a top pair rather than to declare one as ‘India’s Voice’ since both of them have mastery in their own style and nature of songs. By taking both, the Organizers could have won the hearts of those who voted for Vinit.
Vinit said, “My target now is to sing well, to learn more and establish myself in a year’s time so that everyone should forget that I ever lost by margin votes. I will try to win the hearts of the people with my hard work and performance,” said Vinit after the grand finale. “He gave credit of his success of coming to the last final to his guru and the blessings of his mother".
As per Hindustan Times:
Vinit said he was indebted to those who voted for him and brought him this far.
“Votes from neutral zones pegged me as a winner but I accept the final result very gracefully,” he said HT on phone. While Vinit’s brother Vivek said it was “bad luck”, his father Tej Narain Singh said, “Vinit, in my opinion, has won on the basis of talent but lost out due to voting".
