ICC Champions Trophy: England, Sri Lanka match to resume on Saturday (Sep 18)
MIL, Sep 17, 2004. Subrat Thayal
Southampton: Crucial Group D Match between Sri Lanka & England, a virtual Quarter-Final Encounter winner of which to move into Semi, has been suspended due to heavy rain. Match to resume tomorrow (18th Sep), the reserve day!
England was put into bat first by Sri Lankan Captain Mavan Atapattu. England were 118 for three after 32 overs with opener Marcus Trescothick batting on 64 and Andrew Flintoff on 21 when play was suspended.
England and Sri Lanka have two points each, both having beaten Zimbabwe in the earlier group matches. If rain washes out Saturday's play too, England will progress to semi-final with a better run-rate (+3.04) than Sri Lanka (+0.629).
