Google receives overwhelming response on launching Web Page
MIL/Agencies, Feb 24, 2006.
Google launched an early test version of a Web page creation and hosting service on Thursday but just in hours, the Company is reported to have stopped accepting more requests of sign-ups, since it received an overwhelming response.
Google specifies that the free Google Page Creator as a Browser-based tool needs no technical knowledge of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). Any non-technical user can create it in minutes. These are "attractive, functional" Web pages that the company will host for free. Google promises that No software is to be downloaded. It has many other advantages of other programming languages.
Though Google wished to accepted a limited users at an early test stage, the response was so overwhelming that the company had no other option but to stop it for the time being.
It is reported that the company has not onlynstopped entertaining further users but also intends to re-start it very soon. It has probably set up a waiting list online. The Company has, however, clarified that this service is a tool for creating individual’s Web pages and not Web sites. The report further says that users must have a subscription to the company's free Gmail Web mail service. It has set a 100MB-storage limit per Google Page Creator user for pages and uploaded files.
