Dalai Lama not retiring under China’s Pressure: GBA

New Delhi, India: March 10, 2011 – IR Summary/GBA/DNA – While speaking on the anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule, Dalai Lama, the 76 year old Tibetan Spiritual leader, announced today to finally retire from the active politics of the Tibetan Movement. Dalai Lama is not retiring under any political pressure from China, it is his own and independent decision.


Dalai Lama would suggest to the Tibetan Parliament-in Exile to amend the clause accordingly during the forthcoming 11th session of the 14th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile which begins on March 14, wherein he is likely to propose his official retirement so as to enable their Parliament to amend and induct the new formal head.  


Dalai Lama said:


“Since 60s, I have been suggesting Tibetans needs a leader to be elected freely by the Tibetan people whom I may transfer my power but the people requested me to continue and I felt helpless.”


“The right time has come now to make it practical and give an effect to this change and relieve me of this great responsibility, however, I shall continue to serve the cause of the Tibetan people wherever the need arises.” 


GBA, which holds respect for all world religions and traditions, feel that Dalai Lama, who had come to India in 1959 after failure of the uprising against Rule of China, has been a great boost for Tibetan people and guided them for over fifty years.”


Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist and Lead Man of God Believers Association, said, “ The GBA appreciates Dalai Lama’s social and political services that he rendered to the cause of the Tibetan people as a formal head for all these years, and so much so, he was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize, which he really deserved and in fact the whole India regards him as a great religious leader.”


GBA President added, “Dala Lama’s personality and advocacy really boosted the cause of the Tibetan people.


“The Tibetan people would need his umbrella even after his retirement and that is not only important but also essential from political angle and the noble cause of these people,” Dr. Raj Baldev said.


Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist & lead Man of God Believers Association (GBA) finally said, “ As per GBA information, there is no truth about the rumor that Dalai Lama is retiring under the pressure of the Chinese rule.”


“ The decision of Dalai Lama’s retirement is that of his own and bears no truth about any political pressure from any quarter,” GBA President said.
