Corruption in India touches highest peak unchecked? MIL, Jul 20, 2005. Dr.RB Montgomery It is rightly said that India is one of the first top ten most corrupted countries in the world. When the word 'country' is used, it indicates about the people living over there. A recent exposure has proved that India is not only one of the tenth among the most corrupt countries but it perhaps tops the corruption all over! Instead of diesel, the authorized agencies filled water in oil tanks and sent to the Army Units to fill water instead of diesel to render their tanks, artillery guns, armored vehicles and missile launchers unserviceable for any operation. The results could be obvious. Fortunately there was then no action in the northern front, consisting of areas of Leh, Ladakh and Siachen at that time when this shameless betrayal action happened. If there were action at that moment, which could erupt any moment, India would have been ruined, not only reputation wise but also whole the nation- loving-people would have been humiliated with shame. An Army source confirmed that seven tanks full of water in place of diesel were delivered to the Army in Leh. The possibility of more such tanks filled with water cannot be ruled out. According to Col. RK Sen as referred by an Agency, soldiers employed in Ladakh region are totally dependent on IOC for bulk of their oil supplies including diesel, kerosene oil and other fuels. The Army source confirms that the tankers were brought to Leh from the IOC Depots at Ambala, Pathankot and Jammu along two routes, one through Himachal Pradesh and the other via Udhampur and Kashmir Valley. Fortunately, the Army had got the tip that a deep scam to dislodge their own army was going on by the authorized oil supply agencies and they are sending tankers filled with water instead of diesel and gasoline. A probe has been ordered to uncover this scam. Experience of inquiries in India tells us that any probe, which is ordered to investigate into any incident, normally proves an eye wash. The reason being that the majority of the people generally entrusted with such inquiries can also be influenced, hence the chances of a fair result of any probe becomes remote. The official machinery in India is not dependable, the majority is at the top gear in corruption, everywhere in this great country. The only way to get the fair result is that such inquiry be entrusted to Judges of Judiciary with blot-less record and they should be kept out of reach of political influence and media. Their names should not be disclosed unless the inquiry is completed and finding released. The other alternative is that the help of top NRIs be sought in such high confidential inquiries and those people found guilty of this sort of treason should simply get capital punishment.
