New Delhi - BJP President L K Advani submitted his resignation as party Chief to pacify the unprecedented uproar in the Sangh Parivar over his controversial remarks on Mohammed Ali Jinnah that he gave during his visit to Pakistan. He said, Jinnah was secular.
The tragic part of the story was that Sangh Parivar should have waited till Mr. Advani clarified his stand on return to India. They did not wait but started leveling wild allegations against him irrespective of his great contribution and rich background of his sacrifices that he made for the party during his life time.
Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee supported Mr. Advani and said that a wrong interpretation was taken out of his statement made in Pakistan about Mr. Jinnah.
Mr Advani became fed up of the Sangh Parivar's unreasonableness and party's criticism. Ultimately, he called BJP General Secretary Sanjay Joshi at his residence this morning and handed over his resignation to him the resignation as Party President.
Mr. Advani's resignation came a day after the top RSS brass took exception to his controversial remark on Pakistan founder leader Mohammad Ali Jinnah and asked him to withdraw his statement which he refused to do.
His resignation has created an unexpected re-action, the party leaders have gathered to chalk out a strategy how to persuade Mr. Advani to withdraw his resignation on one side and putting pressure on the party leaders not to accept his resignation.
One section of people have approached Mr. LK Advani to withdraw his resignation if the party leaders request him to do so. Mr. LK Advani gave no comments. It shows that Mr. Advani may re-consider and may withdraw his resignation.
