Google introduces customized portal page
MIL/Agencies, May 21, 2005. Special Correspondent
Washington - Google, the Internet Search Leader has introduced a customised "portal" page, though it is in the testing stage. This new privilege may undo Yahoo and Microsoft's MSN. It is a wiser step to offer more opportunities to the people who pin very high hopes on Google.
The new addition shall create more options on their initial home page or search page, it shall not restrict to use the simple facility of Google home page with a search box. For this offering you can log on http://labs.google.com.
The new change shall undoubtedly bring Google quite closer to a healthy competition more directly with Yahoo, MSN and other Web portal sites, which allow users to search but also browse content such as news or weather from the initial page.
According to Sapa-AFP, Google users would be allowed to customise their home page by choosing from various options, including news from the BBC or New York Times, local weather and cinema features.
It is similar to Yahoo's My Yahoo, My MSN from Microsoft and other rival offerings. International Reporter feel that Google should have done it much earlier.
