Markets recover ground on SEBI statement
MIL/ET, Sep 30, 2008.

Mumbai: September 30, 2008 - Indian stocks came off the day's low on a statement by SEBI Chairman CB Bhave that there were no concerns on institutional investors short-selling stocks and added that no change in the rules governing short selling was expected.

BSE Sensex recovered from the intraday low of 12153.55 and was at 12530 at 11:25 am, before the sun-outage break. NSE 50-share Nifty recovered to 3825 after touching an intraday low of 3715.

"The market surveillance system is already in place. There are no worries on that front. We have no apprehension that institutional investors are short selling," Bhave said.
