Jammu, J&K – India – August 8, 2008 – IR Summary/Agencies – Around 100 persons staged protests here today during curfew hours, the police, however, arrested 50 protestors for violating curfew orders in spite of Flag March by Army in several districts of the Jammu region.
Curfew orders were defied and protest rallies were held at various places in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts. Activists of Amun Paigam Yatra were arrested here for defying curfew orders.
However, all-party delegation headed by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil held talks with political leaders on the Amarnath land transfer issue.
The Shri Amarnath Sangrash Samiti (SASS) boycotted the meeting protesting the presence of NC Patron Farooq Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz on the panel.

Reviewing law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Patil today asked the state government to deal the current situation with a balanced approach.
There were no violent clashes with the police or Army at any place, in fact the situation has been more or less peaceful, the tension created by the protestors was not stormy.
