GMJ agitators beat Tourists with iron rods, threw luggage, India is free?

MIL, Jun 12, 2008

Jaipaiguri, India: GMJ Demand of a separate state: June 12, 2008 – (Ed. International Reporter) - The morcha undertaken by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha  (GMJ) seems to have no principle, no sensible leadership, no hesitation to destroy their own state. It’s just like a story of a tree cutter, who was cutting a tall tree while sitting on a branch of the same tree, not realizing that he may fall down from the tree and may be injured or die.

Darjeeling, which mainly banks on tourism, the GMJ have not only started misbehaving the tourists over there without any fault or reaction, but also severely beaten them, tossed their luggage on the road, and that took a ghastly turn yesterday and the violence is still continuing even today, tourists are entrapped, what the govt. is doing?

Yesterday the GMJ group attacked the tourists from Kolkata near Gorumara sanctuary with choppers and iron rods, causing serious injuries to about 10 tourists, including an elderly couple and four women.

The baggage of the tourists was tossed in the air and then thrown on the street, tore the clothes of an innocent elderly tourist and pushed him out of the taxi and threw him on the road side cruelly.

Their fault of another tourist was, whom they beat him on the road simply because he asked one agitator politely that if they block the transport and don’t allow the tourists to go out, then where will they go as tourists? “You have principally relaxed agitation for the tourists, but your blockade is still going on? Tell us what should we do and where should we go? Where should we hide to save from the wrath of the agitators?”

The agitators were flared up whey they were questioned by tourists, who are they to ask us anything about our State?. “We don’t want tourists, let them go to hell”, an agitator shouted angrily.

Where India is going? Either there is some serious conspiracy against this country by funding certain disloyal leaders to create chaos on the pretext of some agitation or the other, or our leadership is so poor administratively that they only come in action and become serious when property of crores of rupees is destroyed and hundreds of people injured or dead.

The attacks on tourists by GJM men, in fact made a horrible scene of violence in the Gorkhaland, throwing the stirs open, uncontrolled. On Tuesday, GJM men smashed up buses without sparing tourists, the agitators made the environment turned into terror, shouting ugly slogans and beating the tourists wherever they spotted them.

As per reports, Bimal Kumar Nandan (71) and wife Durgarani (59) clutched each other desperately as they were dragged out of their car and bashed up. The five others in their group were brutally assaulted. Their driver, a local, wasn’t spared either.

Most of the victims are from Behala. Apart from the Nandan couple, five others were identified: Sarmishtha Das (27), Tapas Pal (26), Saikat Bakshi (29), Basanti Pal (45) and Saroj Sinha.

Are we free country, the biggest democracy, or the free crime committers?
