Dhoom Dadakka, a juvenile flick

MIL/IBN-CNN, May 24, 2008

New Delhi:May 24,2008- Dhoom Dadakka is a film that doesn't have a modicum of intelligence or originality. It's a picture so bankrupt of any cinematic merit that the only reason I'd recommend going to the cinema for this film, is to enjoy the air-conditioning on a hot summer day.

Centred around a plot that had to be the brainchild of a seven year old attending a creative writing class, Dhoom Dadakka is even more unwatchable than Krazzy 4, One Two Three and Sunday — three of the lousiest comedies that have checked into our screens this year.

When Anupam Kher loses his position as top don of Mumbai city because he doesn't have an heir to carry the business forward, he sets out to locate the offspring of his estranged sister.

Attracted by the lure of a fat inheritence, assorted youngsters show up at his doorstep claiming to be the family he's searching for. Samir Dattani claims he's Anupam's nephew, Shaad Randhawa claims he is. Aarti Chhabria insists she's his niece, and Shama Sikander comes along to back up Samir's claims. Unsure about which one of them may be telling the truth, Anupam decides to put them to a series of tests to find out.

Juvenile, unimaginative and entirely predictable, Dhoom Dadakka is a comedy that didn't even make me laugh once. And it's unlikely that you will either at its tasteless jokes about homosexuality, impotence, cross-dressing and the like.

No prizes for guessing, I'm going with zero out of five for director Shashi Ranjan's Dhoom Dadakka, it's a showcase for some of the worst acting you're likely to see at the movies in a long, long time.
