NEW DELHI -  The Delhi High Court in the MMS sex scandal case today granted bail to Bazee.com CEO Avnish Bajaj, whose arrest had sparked off an uproar in industry and diplomatic circles.

Vacation Justice Vikramjit Sen granted bail to Mr Bajal on the condition of furnishing two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each. Mr Bajaj was also directed to surrender his passport and directed not the leave the country without the trial court's permission.

According to Economic Times, the US-based NRI was arrested on Friday on charges of putting and trading the MMS clip through his portal. The trial court had rejected his bail petition on Friday while sending him to judicial custody. After that he had filed an appeal in the high court.
The court directed him to cooperate with the police in the investigation as and when required. Journalists from print and electronic media and advocates were scrambling for a place in the packed courtroom as the proceedings began.

Outside the courtroom, the photographers and video cameramen were pushing each other to get the footage of Mr Bajaj being brought to the court.

"The evidence that has been collected indicates only that the obscene material may have been unwittingly offered for sale on the website and that the heinous nature of the alleged crime may be attributable to some other person," Justice Sen observed.
