Upen Patel would also do like Salman Khan
MIL/Zee News, May 1, 2008.

Mumbai, May 1, 2008 -  Looks like Salman Khan has some tough competition coming his way. The actor was recently replaced by Upen Patel for an extremely dangerous daredevil sequence.

No, we are not saying that Salman has any reason to worry. The actor still comes ahead of Upen as far as movie roles and offers are concerned. But Upen was by far the only choice the organisers had when it came down to finding a replacement for Sallu, who was originally supposed to perform an action stunt at the Zee Cine Awards in London.

Suffering from a ligament injury, Salman was unable to perform. However, Upen, who had less than an hour for rehearsing the stunt, gave a performance that was equally enthralling.

Talking to reporters, Upen said, ‘I was actually asked to step into Salman Khan`s act at the last minute. Believe it or not, I had just one hour to rehearse! I don`t know how I managed it’.

`Salman, I`m told, couldn`t come for his performance because of a torn ligament. I happily agreed to be a last-minute replacement because I didn`t want them to incur losses. Why wouldn`t I want to step in for Salman? He`s a rock star. Besides, they altered Salman`s act to suit my personality.

What was even more surprising was the response the actor received from his audience. Many say the excitement generated was by far much more than what Sallu could have got.

`London is my home. And to perform there is dream come true for me. My mom, my sister and my entire family watched me`.
