Mumbai, April 8, 2008 - IR Summary - Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood Superstar, has openly declared here today and rather given a challenge to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackery that he would not leave Mumbai even if Vandals throw 1000 glass bottles at him.
Superstar is being press hard by the MNA to leave Mumbai, which has been his home for the last four decades but Amitabh has accepted their challenge and said that he would not leave Mumbai at any cost. Is it a joke what the MNS says?
Dr. Raj Baldev, Chairman, National Integration Assembly (NIA) said in New Delhi while addressing the executive committee meeting of the NIA that the activities of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackery warrant condemndation all over. It is just an eletion stunt, but it may not work, since people are very sensible, if personality like Amitabh Bachchan is attakced like this, who will forgive MNS? It is a consitutional matter and the center should sort it out once for all, since it is a dangerous sign for a democratic country like India.
Vandals threw glass bottles at Bachchan's home two months ago after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray criticized the actor for funding a college in Uttar Pradesh, his home state, instead of Mumbai, where he lives and works.
Raj has been agitating against Amitabh Bachchan on the plea that all outsiders from other States should leave Maharashtra. His comments sparked clashes on Mumbai's streets between supporters of his party and the Socialist Party, which Bachchan's wife Jaya represents in Parliament.
"I am not leaving this city and going anywhere. Let them chuck a thousand bottles," Bachchan told the Mumbai Mirror newspaper. "I am not budging."
