Protest against Superstar Rajni Kanth?
MIL/Agencies, Apr 7, 2008. IR Summary

Bangalore, India:  April 7, 2008 – (IR Summary) –Kannada Rakshana Vedike, an outfit on the lines of Shiv Sena, has demanded here today that superstar Rajnikanth should apologize for hurting the sentiments of Kannadigas by participating in a protest organized by the Tamil film industry.

The controversy surrounding the Hogenakkal water project seemed to have worsened today even though Rajni Kanth had already clarified that he did not hurt anyone nor insulted anyone.

The Kannada Rakshana Vedike vehemently demanded that unless Rajni Kanth apologizes they won’t allow his films to be screened in Karnataka nor would they allow him to enter Karnataka. The other people, therefore, wondered when Rajni Kanth had already apologized, where is no point of repeating the same demand?

Rajnikanth had said, "It is a malicious propaganda unleashed against me by some people. I am not an unwise person to pass remarks that may offend the sentiments of the people of Karnataka."

He had in fact explained that during the fast by members of the Tamil film industry association in Chennai last week, he only criticized those who were creating trouble saying that such people be lashed out.

Rajni had said: "Do these people who are demanding my apology represent 5.5 crore Kannadigas?”

"I haven`t done any wrong. But I am not averse to tendering an apology if I had committed any wrong," he said.
