Beijing, China: March 22, 2008 – IR Summary - The Chinese authorities have confirmed here today that they put Tibetan author Tsering Woeser and her Chinese husband and fellow author, Wang Lixiong under house arrest since the outbreak of anti-Chinese protests in Tibet.
"Whatever movements we plan to make, we must first ask for approval," Wang told the US-sponsored Radio Free Asia. "Only when it's approved by higher-ups can we make a move under surveillance."
Chinese authorities have previously focussed him but they have shifted it to his wife, who does not want to give any comments to any media agency or radio or TV Interview for fear of being inviting more trouble from the authorities.
Tsering Woeser, 40, has written 10 books, including two on China's Cultural Revolution. Most of her work has been banned inside China. Her blog was blocked by authorities last year after she published a photo of the Dalai Lama.
This news has created more negative thinking internationally against the reaction of the Chinese authorities how they are behaving with their opponents.
