London: January 16, 2008 - One of the most popular Bollywood stars Salman Khan has unveiled his life-size wax replica at the famous wax works museum Madame Tussauds here today.
Salman had first refused to give his accent but later on on the persuasion of his well wishers and friends, he agreed to be included as the fourth Bollywood celebrity.
"It is absolutely fantastic", said a visibly excited Khan, who has starred in over 50 Bollywood movies, while describing his likeness to the statue."
"It has thicker hair and is more muscular than me," said the 43-year-old hearthrob who stood tall inside the prestigious museum and surrounded by fans.
Salman said "very few Indians have the privilege and it feels good to be a part of it. We have Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya, Shah Rukh and I think I am the third most deserving in the museum."
The Bollywood hunk was sized and photographed in Mumbai for the 400,000 USD wax replica, which took five artistes 12 weeks to create. Salman was one of the first Bollywood stars to stress on fitness and a muscular body form.
Salman’s wax figure is in a special Bollywood section and joins other Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, his former girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan. The wax figure of Salman is just metres away from Aishwarya's.
Salman, who was accompanied by his current girlfriend Katrina Kaif, was given permission by the Rajasthan High Court to travel to London for the occasion since he has been sentenced in a poaching case.
Indian tourists make up the fourth largest group of visitors to the prestigious museum out of the total 2.4 million tourists who flock to the museum.
Staring intensely at his wax replica, Salman appeared to suggest that it has done justice to Salman's six pack abs and bulging biceps. He also donated a set of clothes and a bracelet that his father gave him for the wax replica, as per PTI input.
