British Media blame ICC & BCCI on removal of Bucknor from Perth
MIL/IR Summary from London, Jan 9, 2008. Dr. Raj Baldev, Director, MIL
New Delhi, India: January 9,2008 - IR Summary - Dr. Raj Baldev, Director Media International Limited, International news agency functioning since 1999, gives his comments to the British Media, and ex member of Pess Council of India, who blamed ICC and BCCI on the issue of removing Steve Bucknor from the Perth Test?
Comments by Dr. Raj Baldev:
“Each game has its sanctity and so the Cricket has its own value and reputation, India loves Cricket the most and forms a disciplined crowd.
“It is just like a religion to them in terms of its fairness and impartialities on the playing ground, irrespective of any team from any region of the world. Whether any team wins or loses, principally it should be based on game rules and should in no circumstances be violated. That's what India stands for.
“If it is a mistake, no matter, mistake is a mistake, a wrong judgment, and it is excusable since no one is perfect but when it is deliberate and strongly suggests a conspiracy, would British Media still justify it?
“ The blaming India by the British Media being a rich Cricket Board and humiliating ICC by alleging that they have bowed before the powerful Board is in no way reasonable rather amounts to highhandedness against the framed rules of the game.
“Does the issue taken by the British Media not indicate and strongly suggest that British Media is simply encouraging the unfairness and foul means in the Cricket matches by unfairly and unnecessarily criticizing the decisions of the bodies like ICC and the BCCI, particularly when they have done nothing wrong, but disciplined the status of the umpiring and extinguished the controversy?
“Whatever Australian team does, it is okay and whatever Indian team does, it is wrong? Indian cricket - lovers are the most disciplined in the world and they understand the game and know the rules and this is why the controversy developed.
“Indians are not accustomed to tolerate gross violation in the game, whether they win or lose? They have great sportsmanship and respect for the game and it should be highly appreciated by the British Media rather than blaming the ICC or BCCI even on their right acts? “If one host team uses foul techniques of letting down the visiting team, how British Media can justify it?
“The British Media seems to have lost their patience to the nature of high justice extended by the ICC and tried to preserve the high values of the game by removing Bucknor, I, being a Media man myself, suggest to the British Media, to keep the high reputation of fairness in tact rather than to degrade it.”
“It is for the British Media to analyze the whole issue with fairness, farsightedness and wisdom rather than to encourage the virus of racism.
“The British Media is known for their high reputation of siding always with the justice and I being a veteran journalist advise that let them keep it up their own rich values which the world acknowledge.”
