UP Special Task Force nabs two militants, captures heavy RDX

Lucknow, UP, India : December 22, 2007 - The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police is reported to have arrested two Harkat-ul-Jehad-al-Islami(HuJI) militants from the adjoining Barabanki district today. These militants Tariq and Khaleed are believed to be the mastermind behind the November 23 serial bomb blasts in three district courts of the state.

These militants were nabbed from the Barabanki Railway Station along with heavy quanity of RDX, detonators and other high explosives.
The near simultaneous serial bomb blasts rocked three cities of Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad, killing 13 people, some of them lawyers, and injuring over 70 others.

Yash said while Tariq was an expert in logistics, Khaleed dealt with explosives.

He added that both confessed to their involvement in the Faizabad and Lucknow court explosions. The near simultaneous serial bomb blasts rocked three cities of Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad, killing 13 people, some of them lawyers, and injuring over 70 others.

Six low-intensity bombs, three in Varanasi, two in Faizabad and one in Lucknow, had been planted on cycles.
