Both houses of Parliament adjourned over Nandigram issue

New Delhi, India: November 19, 2007- IRSummary - Both houses of Parliament just within minutes here have adjourned after opening on the first working day since the NDA, led by BJP, demanded an immediate discussion on Nandigram issue. This happened in both houses.
In Lok Sabha, opposition leaders including Vijay Kumar Malhotra and Prabhunath Singh created a uproar as soon as the house started its business. They demanded that the Question Hour be stalled, and the Nandigram issue be taken up for discussion. The Left parties not only objected to it but retaliated with the Gujarat issue.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee offered to hear the opposition after 12 pm but the NDA members, along with Leader of Opposition Lal Krishna Advani, did not approve the suggestion.
On the other hand, the CPI (M) MPs countering the Nandigram issue, demanded a discussion on the Gujarat massacre. There was a chaos from both sides and when they turned a deafear to the call of the Speaker, he adjourned the house till 12 noon.
In Rajya Sabha, the same problem cropped up, there were disturbance on both count and Chairman Hameed Ansari had no other option but to adjourn the house.
