Coimbatore, India: November 13, 2007 -  PMK founder S Ramadoss said here today that India should take initiative to persuade Sri Lankan government and the Tamil Tigers to sit together on the negotiation table so as to end the dispute once for all.

When different organizations, including United Nations and Norway team, were trying to bring peace in Sri Lanka, the Central government should take concrete efforts in this regard, that too within a short time-frame, he told reporters.

"If the present situation continued in the island nation, entire Tamils would be wiped out in a short period," he said.

He also pointed to the reported statement of Sri Lankan army that days of LTTE leader Prabhakaran were numbered.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who has "good political clout", should exert pressure on the Centre to take initiative to find an early solution to the crisis, he said.

"There should be ceasefire from both the sides before setting a platform for the settlement," he said, adding that he had already written to Karunanidhi to exert pressure on the Centre to take immediate measures.

Claiming that Tamil youths, who were sleeping outside their houses were taken away by Lankan soldiers and killed, Ramadoss alleged that largescale human rights violations were taking place in Sri Lanka, as per PTI.
