Washington/Islamabad:  November 8, 2007 - (IR Summary) -Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has announced on Thursday that the elections will be held in Pakistan before February 15, just a month behind schedule. Musharraf has also vowed to quite as Army Chief.

It is understood that Musharraf has made this announcement after US president George W Bush advised him to lift emergency rule, give up Army post and hold elections without any delay since the world is blaming him (Bush) responsible for creating chaos in Pakistan.

The wrath has mounted against Pakistan and U.S.Administration and President Bush does not want that America should be held responsible for any military rule since it is against their basic policy. They have been the staunch advocates of democracy and not any military rule hence sent a message to Musharraf to undo Emergency and resort to Democracy.

President Bush spoke to president Musharraf clearly that the United States want him to have the elections as scheduled and take his uniform off. President Bush also opened his mind at a news conference at Mount Vernon.

The general however told Bush during the 20-minute conversation that Emergency was “temporary” to ensure the “transition to full democracy” and he would lift it, shun the uniform and hold elections in February.
 
Since Musharraf has already made an arrangement for coming out of Supreme Court threat of holding his election invalid, he had no hesitation to give a word to President Bush in lifting the Emergency.

Both Musharraf and Bush feel that the real danger of hanging sword on the neck of Musharraf is off, and Musharraf would be able to tackle the situation. Moreover, lifting emergency shall soften the International anger and home political parties.

It is also learnt that old arrangement with Benazir Bhutto has been revived, and she would indirectly help Musharraf to establish peace.
