Musharraf not in house arrest - promises to restore democracy in a year

Islamabad, Pakistan: November 05, 2007 - There were strong rumors spread in Pakistan that President Pervez Musharraf was put under house arrest by his subordinates on his order of imposing emergency in Pakistan.

There is no truth in this rumor.  President Parvez Musharraf is very much free to act and discharge a big responsibility in making his country free from extremism, terrorism and such quarters creating hurdles in the progress of peace and democracy and also promised to restore real democracy within a year.

President Musharraf is faced by several problems  within his country, which he wants to  solve and is confident that requires about a year to bring his country on the democratic lines. (IR Summary).

Other factor of News (Reuters): President Parvez Musharraf told Reuters in reply to rumors that he is placed under house arrest:

"It is a joke of the highest order," Musharraf told Reuters from the Presidency building in Islamabad where he had just met more than 80 foreign diplomats to explain his decision.

Media organizations received calls from cities all around Pakistan, including Karachi, where the stock market had fallen 4.7 percent on the political uncertainty.
