Pak shall soon revert to democracy, India feels

MIL/Agencies, Nov 4, 2007

New Delhi: November 04, 2007 – IR Summary - India was upset yesterday on promulgation of emergency in Pakistan, since it too has an adverse effect on India. Whatever the changes happen either in India or in Pakistan, both have effect on each other.

India has, therefore, regretted to say that Pakistan is passing through a difficult time but have faith in President Musharraf that he would bring back the normalcy very soon.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who had a meeting with  External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, discussed pros and cons of the emergency on India. The MEA spokesman said:

“We regret the difficult times that Pakistan is passing through. We trust that conditions of normalcy will soon return permitting the transition to democracy and stability to continue.”

The Congress expressed hope that the turmoil in Pakistan would settle soon, it is just a matter of little time.

The BJP has, however, asked the Prime Minister to persuade Parvez Musharraf to restore democracy as soon as possible. The Left said it was a setback for democracy. CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat said.

National Integration Assembly (NIA), a body that has been dedicatedly working for International Integration for over nearly four decades, has also held it meeting in here today to examine the situation.

NIA’s Chairman Dr. Raj Baldev, expressed hope that President Parvez Musharraf, being a very sensible and committed statesman, would soon bring the conditions of his country normal.

Musharraf wants some time to tackle the forces that he feels are obstructing the smooth working of the country. As soon as he is satisfied that the path is clear, he would establish democracy.

Pakistan President Mushraff , being a great fan of cricket game,is believed to have sent a special word to their Cricket team in India to concentrate on their game and assured them that everything is fine; Pak relations with India are perfectly progressing in the right direction.

The team manager is further believed to have communicated the reported message to the team members so as to keep their morale high and to keep the players away from any sort of tension.
