Court deferred hearing on Bihar MLA’s bail application MIL/Agencies/ZN, Nov 3, 2007. IR Summary Patna: November 03, 2007 - The Patna Court here has deferred the bail application of the Bihar MLA Anant Singh today; he was arrested for allegedly attacking two media personalities. The bail application shall be placed before the court after receiving the details of the incident from the Police. A Bandh called on Friday in the state by the main Opposition party RJD and the same was supported by Congress, LJP, CPI, CPI-M, CPI-ML, BSP, Samajwadi Party, NCP and Samata Party. There were free vehicular disruptions and lathi charge. RJD leader and ex-Chief Minister Rabri Devi, was arrested and then released. She was leading the front demonstrators, who were shouting slogans against Anant Singh and others.(IR Summary). Other factors from Zee News: Anant Singh had allegedly attacked the media people after they questioned him about his involvement in an alleged rape and murder of a young woman called Reshma. She is reported to have written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar blaming the MLA, a builder and Singh’s bodyguard of sexual abuse. The assault on the mediapersons made Nitish Kumar recommend a CBI inquiry on pressure from the Opposition.
