Communists dictate strike in W. Bengal, blackmailing Centre- NIA
MIL/Agencies, Oct 31, 2007. IR Summary

Kolkata: October 31, 2007 =- IR Summary - During a strike today called in Kolkata to protest against the killings of villagers opposed to the Industry, several people were injured in clashes with police and buses were set on fire in West Bengal.

As a result of strike, all schools and offices were shut down and the shops and commercial establishments were partly closed and the protestors also blocked rail tracks and shouted slogans against the authorities.

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief of the Trinamul Congress, felt sorry that the people are unnecessarily suffering but the workers of her Congress were also reported to be destroying the national property.

Mamata said, "But poor villagers are still being killed by communist party workers in Nandigram for protecting their land, and we cannot sit quietly anymore."

Dr.Raj Baldev, Chairman, National Integration Assembly (NIA) expressed his pain and said that UPA is being blackmailed and due to compelling reasons, they are silent.  He said:

“Whether you believe or not, it looks as if our country was being dominated by communists, and the strong evidence suggests that they have bosses out of the country and our people are receiving dictations from them and are destroying the property of the nation with a view to  slowing down the country's progress.”

“This is a dangerous signal to the entire country, and the Centre is acting as a silent spectator, how painful!” Dr. Raj Baldev, Chairman, National Integration Assembly (NIA) said in an aggrieved manner.

Dr. Raj Baldev said, “There looks to be no meaning for National Integration, the country is being swayed away by the communist forces openly in a day broad light playing with the property and authority of the country, and the democracy, which we preach, looks to be just for a name sake.”
